Locations

The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Check out the individual exam pages for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam information. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, please contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide detailed documentation when you register.

The Faculty Dashboard in Workday has the option of "View My Teaching Schedule" which lets faculty find their exam schedules. The Registrar's Office also has a list of exam times for the classes that must take an exam as per NYSED regulations. For evening classes exams, they are scheduled at the regular class meeting time during the final exam week.

Registration

Students are advised to check the exam schedule online. Exam locations try their best to accommodate those who have special needs. The nature and severity of these requirements should be noted on the registration and verified by a doctor's attestation. The locations of the exam must adhere to confidentiality.

If students are scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they should contact their department or instructor to schedule a retake test. While it is possible to take three exams in one day, it could result in a high stress level and can affect the quality of the test. Additionally, the instructor may not be able to conduct a makeup test on a different day.

Students must review their course material before taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test which assesses the ability to read, speak, and write in German. The examination results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has reached the level of A1 in their language. This level corresponds to the first level of the six-level scale of competence outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of charge. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. If they do not present an ID with a valid photo will be disqualified from the exam.

Fees



You will have to pay an exam fee if you wish to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the cost of the course.

Practice tests allow you to get a feel for the style, wording, and difficulty of the questions on the test. They can help you evaluate your knowledge, spot areas of weakness and increase your chances of passing the test.

Please note that the fee for exams is non-refundable. The results of the examination can only be received by email and not by telephone.
